February 12th 2015 Dumaguete to Bacolod City Journey

Taking a motorized trike in Dumaguete from McDonalds to the southern Ceres bus station at 5:30am.

On my bus route from the south/east corner of the island (Dumaguete) to the north/west corner of the island (Bacolod City) we traveled through many villages. Here is a gas station along the road. "Would you like 750ML of gas sir?"

A bridge just before Bacolod City.

As John Candy said in the movie "Summer Rental" regarding his burned skin "You know when it comes to tanning you got to do these things in STAGES". I had sunscreen on but obviously not that good as I traveled for 4-5 hours on a scooter the previous day. My shoulders are the worst (see below).

My shoulders are quite scabby due to the burn I got. Will be staying inside for the next few days and wearing long sleeve shirts and pants from now on when I am outside.
On Wednesday I got the 6:20am bus (270 pesos ($7 cdn) and it took 7 hours to get to Bacolod city. I have to admit that the Philippines is an old whites guys paradise as I have seen so many 60+ white haired white guys getting a ride from their 20 something filipina girlfriends on the back of their scooters. It is quite funny to see.

Although they have hotwater at the hotels I find I usually prefer cold water due to the heat here. Cockfighting is a big sport here in South East Asia which is why there are so many roosters around. The eye doctor guy from Montreal had told me he went to a cock fight arena where he placed bets on different roosters and each rooster had the odds posted for it.

I got to Bacolod City at 1:20pm and checked into the Pension Bacolod.
