This is Raymond. As I left the beach he asked me if I wanted to see the best view of Boracay Island from the highest point. So he gave me a ride up to Mount Luho. |
Had to get this SELFIE in as Raymond doubled me on his scooter to Mount Luho. |
We arrive at Mount Luho which is the highest point on Boracay Island. |
There were a lot of animals in small cages with no names on them. I don't know what kind of bird this is. Looked like some kind of eagle but I am no bird expert. |
An Owl on the ground peering up at me. |
A monkey saying "I am so boooooooooooored in here". |
This is the South East view of the island where you can see the island of Panay where Caticlan is where I took the boat across to Boracay Island. |
A closer look of the above picture. |
Chicken and pork. |
As I walked to McDonalds this morning I saw this guy sleeping on his card board along the main road. |
This guy was sleeping just 10 feet away down the side walk. I was going to start poking him and bugging him just to get on his nerves as a joke. Haha just kidding. I wouldn't do that. |
As we are driving he tells me his name is Raymond and that he is 33 years old and has 4 kids who live and go to school in Kalibo which is a town I passed through from Roxas to Caticlan on my way to Boracay. He says it is too expensive on Boracay to have his family here so he just borrows his brothers scooter and gives his brother half of whatever he makes during the day with the scooter. I am always surprised with people who can hardly feed themselves decide to have more mouths to feed but that is the Philippines.
We head back retracing my walk by about 60% before we turn off and begin heading upwards and passing dune buggies on the road heading there too. We get to the top and then there are stairs to climb to the very top and a 120 pesos ($3 cdn) entrance fee. I pass by lots of animals that are caged that don't have any labels on them and then head up stairs to the highest deck and take some pictures of Boracay Island.
After 20 minutes we head back to Trafalgar Cottages and I give Raymond 300 pesos which he is happy with (This is what a journeyman carpenter would make for working 8 hours in most places in the Philippines) and I say good bye and look for a place to eat. I find a place called "Chooks to Go" and buy a whole cooked chicken for 210 pesos ($5 cdn) and see some pork and decide to buy it too for 155 pesos ($4 cdn) and find another place and buy some milk and head back to my room to eat it. I notice that I don't feel very good after eating pork so I don't think I will be eating any more pork and will stick with chicken from now on.
