March 4th 2015 Journey from Roxas City to Boracay Beach

At Roxas bus terminal taking a minivan to Caticlan for my boat ride over to Boracay Island. My minivan is the one of the left hand side and you can see the driver in red looking at me thinking "Come on white boy, we are all waiting for you so we can go". A few seconds after this photo he waved me over even though the other guy told me I had 30 minutes before it leaves.

We have 16 people packed into the minivan and we are just about to go when I hear this loud "COCK-A-DOODLE-DO!!!" echoe inside the minivan. Apparently a rooster in a box with air holes on top was coming with us for the ride! Great!

We arrive here at Caticlan Jetty Port Terminal for my boat ride over to Boracay Island.

Before you go in your must go to the left and pay for your pumpboat ride (25 pesos), terminal fee (100pesos), and environmental fee (75 pesos). So basically 200 pesos total ($10 cdn).

It was like a 15 minute trip to Boracay island and here I jumped in a green vehicle since I knew I had to get to E-Mall where my accommodation was near and these green vehicles are 20 pesos where a regular tricycle is 100pesos. I like to save where I can ;).

On our way to White Beach which is where all the action is.

At 6am I check out of the Pink Palace and head for the Roxas bus terminal. Trike driver charged me 50 pesos so looks like I got ripped off 50 pesos on the way in. Another $1.50 cdn I won't see again haha.

From Roxas I got a minivan which took us to Kalibo (120 pesos and 2 hours) and from there we switched minivans which was from Kalibo to Caticlan (100 pesos 1 1/2 hours).

I get to Caticlan Jetty Port Terminal where I pay my environmental fee (75 pesos) and terminal fee (100 pesos) and get my pumpboat ticket (25 pesos). I walk into the building where I have to register before going to the island and then head to the pumpboats. As I was walking a woman gave me a map of Boracay which has everything on it. Pumpboat ride took 15 minutes and got a green tricycle into the White Beach area.

Anybody going to Boracay would want to book one month in advance AT LEAST. I booked a month before as I checked online and the rooms filled up fast. I have seen budget travelers who are normally paying $15-20 per night pay $175 per night on Boracay. I am staying at the Trafalgar Cottages and paying $175 for the full 14 days! It is a private room with a shared bathroom.
