March 22nd 2015 Davao City- Day 5- Sampling fruit

I went to McDonalds in the morning and as I looked through the window across the street I see another CHOW KING but the big sign says CHOW KING DUTERTE so I ask a McDonalds employee why the name DUTERTE is on a Chow king advertisement and he says "Sir, Duterte is the mayor of our city" and I say "Yes I know that but why is his name used in advertising? Is it a selling feature here in Davao?" and he laughed and said he didn't know.
(You can see the guilty little culprit at the end of the hall looking back at me from a safe distance). Before I left for McDonalds I put 3 days worth of garbage outside my door as I saw cleaners going around and I assumed that they would have picked up my garbage by the time I got back an hour later so when I am about to get to my door I see my garbage still there and one of the bags is scattered across the hallway and I am thinking "What the F@CK happened here??" and then I hear something scurrying around in one of the bags and I yell "HEY!!" where a small cat pops out and sees me so runs down the hall but before it goes around the corner it looks back at me as if to say "HAHA white boy, I will ALWAYS OUTSMART you. ALWAYS!" just taunting me from a safe distance down the hall. I see the bag of chicken bones farther down the hall (which he was obviously after) and so I just pick up the scattered 3 bags of garbage and go to the front desk and give them my garbage and say "Do you know you have a cat running around in your hotel?" and the woman responds "Oh I am going to catch that cat!!!" and laughs.
Afterwards I headed out to that food market that I was at the other day to sample some of the fruit I have never seen before. Guy at the right saw me about to take a picture so had to get a wave in there.

I saw a guy cutting up some Jack Fruit so I bought 50 pesos worth from him. It tasted OK. Not sweet but tastes like fruit.
I have a little leash for my Durian Fruit and decide to take it for a walk until I find a good place to eat it. I bought some Jack fruit (50 pesos), a Durian (175 pesos), and a Guyabano (24 pesos). The Durian was 100 pesos per kilogram and they picked up the biggest one and weighed it and it was close to 500 pesos and I told them I didn't want that much but just enough to sample so they got me a smaller Durian for 165 pesos. I told him that I needed it cut up first before I took it so he cut it in such a way where I could just pry the rest of it open with my hands when I was ready to eat it and he tied a string on it so I could walk it home as it is too prickly to hold in your hand. It is like a porcupine!
This is a Guyabano Fruit.

He also cut it in such a way where I could just pry it open with my hands when I was ready to eat it. It tasted some what similar to a mango inside. I liked the taste.
After I pried the Durian Fruit open this is what it looks like inside. The actual edible part is probably only 30% of the total weight of the fruit. It was hard even untying the string from my Durian fruit without getting jabbed by one of its prickly thorns on it but I managed to get it off and pried open the durian where the little goodie was inside. I pay 100 pesos per kilogram but the part you eat is probably only 30% of the whole weight. It tasted very creamy like a pudding or something. I wouldn't call it delicious or anything and this will be the only one I will have again.
Here is the edible part in my hand. There was one seed in it.
I knew I wasn't allowed to eat Durian at the hotel or anywhere indoors due to the horrible stench that comes from the fruit so I found a quiet sidewalk with a very small cement step to sit on and opened my Durian and began to eat it. I was getting some funny looks from people walking by on the street like "Oh boy, we got stinky eating his durian on the side of our sidewalk. Great!".
When I got back to my hotel I saw that cat eating the last little bits of the chicken on the hallway floor. He saw me and ran away again but this time I followed him and found his Lair. There is a gated alleyway between the rooms where the air conditioning is mounted along with the pop.
