March 6th 2015 Boracay Island Day 3- Puka Shell Beach

I arrive at the entrance of Puka Shell Beach with some souvenir stalls on the left hand side.
Entrance to Puka Shell Beach. Main restaurant on the right hand side from here.

Puka Shell Beach.
Puka Shell beach.
Nice white sand and clean blue water.
Nice blue water to swim in.

An outside restaurant getting set up for dinner time around 4pm with cushions for seating and tables with big stainless steel square pots on them.
Puka Shell Beach.
I saw these to large sacks of Oysters with waves crashing over them and I originally thought they fell off a boat and washed ashore. I was tempted to take them.
Nice clean algae free water!
Looking back at the entrance to Puka Shell beach. The main restaurant is on the left hand side here.

The waiter tried seating me beside all these people but they were smoking and I told him I wanted to be as far away from them as possible.
Pork Adobe and garlic rice.

After hours of walking I finally made it to PUKA SHELL BEACH and must admit it is much nicer than white beach and less people! There was no green algae in the water but nice turquoise blue water and white sand. As I walked through the entrance I saw a restaurant to my right and took a look over their menu and prices as I planned to eat something once I was done looking around on Puka Shell Beach. I walked a little further through the entrance and a tout said "Hello sir, Cold drinks? food? here is our menu" and I took the menu from him and saw they had the exact same things as the first main restaurant except their prices were 50% higher! I asked him why there prices are 50% higher than the one over there and the filipino just shrugged his shoulders and said "Sorry sir, I just work here" meaning he had nothing to do with the business or the prices but I didn't see a kitchen in their little sit down area so can only figure they get their food from the main restaurant and just mark up the prices 50% for tourists that don't know any better.

As I walked along Puka Shell Beach I realized it was a much nicer beach that White Beach and without the green slimy algae to walk through to swim in the ocean. I could see they were setting up an outdoor restaurant as they brought out the seating cushions and big square stainless steel pots for all the food they would prepare with nice music being played. I walked as far as I could until the white sandy beach stopped at another rocky mountain so I turned around and walked back thinking I will be coming here to swim next time as it is much nicer. As I walked back to the restaurant along the shore line I was surprised to see 2 bulging sacks of something and didn't see anyone around and was wondering if these 2 sacks fell off a ship and washed ashore as the waves crashed over top of them. As I checked closer I saw that both of these bulging sacks were full of OYSTERS!! They were too heavy to lift back to my place and I realized they belong to someone else and are just being left there until they get set up on the beach for dinner.

As I walked back to the entrance I went into the first main restaurant. There were a bunch of Germans there as I could tell because of their strong aggressive accent "Zis is Vut I vant!"and some other Europeans. I ordered Pork Adobe and garlic rice with ice tea. The Pork Adobe was very good and marinated in something. I mixed it with my rice and it was very good and the prices were good compared to touristy White Beach. As I left I looked for a green golf cart vehicle that seems to be the cheapest route along the main road but didn't see any so took a tricycle back to my hotel for 150 pesos that took almost 30 minutes to get back. I didn't realize how much I walked.

Today I went to the McDonalds I usually go to but their WI-FI was not working so decided to go to another McDonalds a ways down the main road that I remember driving by coming from Puka Shell beach the previous day so I saw a green golf cart on the side of the road but it didn't look like it was in action and I asked the guy "How much to McDonalds?" and he said "60 pesos" and I said "60 pesos to McDonalds? Why so much?" and he said "Because Special Delivery" which meant he was just acting like a regular tricycle driver and the ride would only be for me so I went to the side of the road and waved down another green golf cart driving by with filipinos aboard and it was 10 pesos to McDonalds. Green Golf Carts are the way to get around on the Main Road of Boracay Island!
